It’s a blustery day in the neighborhood

Friday, March 31st, 2006

I felt as if I were going to be blown off the sidewalk today while running. Supposedly there were 40 MPH wind gusts.

This is a goose looking rather windblown.

This is me looking like rather windblown.

This is a street light that got ripped off a telephone pole by the wind.
When I first ran by it, it was hanging precariously by its electric cable.

What can I say, I just wanted to share the excitement.

Why I’m ready to move

Monday, March 27th, 2006

This closet door in our apartment building was the hapless victim of drunken party-goers. Who knows where the rest of the door went. Ripped off its hinges and taken as a souvenir, I imagine.

Part the First, A new look, and Part the Second, In Which I get one-upped

Saturday, March 25th, 2006

1: The pic above is of our stove. It was kinda difficult to get because it was really hot, which is not particularly good for me or the camera.

2: In response to my last post, Aaron demonstrated what it means to actually be good at Photoshop by taking my meager changes and turning them into the following:

At least Becky didn’t pull out her Photoshop skills. Then I’d have to go hide in a corner or something. Heh heh

An uncommonly progressive hymnal

Sunday, March 19th, 2006

Aaron sent me this sweet hymnal he found in California to add to my collection. It’s from 1878 (which, by the way, is only 28 years after California became a state). Wow. Thanks, Aaron! But if you look closely at this particular hymnal (click on the picture for a larger version), you’ll notice something unusual about it. I think it was a prototype. Maybe Apple really is taking over the world. They’re even taking over our jeans now—click here for proof. And okay, I admit there was a minor amount of photoshopping involved.

And a little Watts from the hymnal to end the post:

Come the great day, the glorious hour,
When earth shall feel his saving power,
All nations fear his name:
Then shall the race of men confess
The beauty of his holiness,
His saving grace proclaim.

Haiku for John Wesley Harding

Thursday, March 16th, 2006

davemay’s xanga hedgehog, John Wesley Harding, seems about to pass on. Please go honor him with a haiku on Dave’s blog.

O sea-green snuffler,

your curious blinking eyes

amuse us daily.

May you rest in peace

and ever follow the great

pointer in the sky.
